Each entry carries both the time the incident happened — to the precision you actually remember — and the time you wrote it down. Both are kept, both are exported, and neither overwrites the other. Attach photos, video, audio, e-mails, screenshots and documents. Files are stored exactly as received — no recompression, EXIF intact — with SHA-256 and MD5 hashes computed as the bytes are encrypted, never recalculated from a decoded copy. Every change — creating, editing, locking, attaching, exporting — is written into a hash chain in the same transaction as the change itself. Nothing can be inserted, reordered or quietly removed afterwards. Locking an entry freezes the narrative and the facts of the moment. Later corrections are added as dated addenda rather than silent edits, so the record shows what you knew and when. Record the people involved with their role and organisation, and link each incident to what you did about it — the report you filed, who you told, what came of it. Record audio in the app and transcribe it on the device itself, with a model bundled in the app — nothing is uploaded, and it works in airplane mode. Nothing on the phone says what the app is for: a neutral name and icon, and no telling wording in notifications, share sheets or the file names of exports and backups. H-Notes does not collect, store or transmit any personal data — not to Linosec, not to an analytics service, not to anyone. There is no account and no sign-up. No analytics, no telemetry, no crash reporting, no advertising identifiers, no tracking of any kind. The App Store privacy label is answered “Data Not Collected” because that is what the app does. The app makes no outbound connection of any kind. It has no HTTP client, no analytics endpoint, no reverse geocoding and no embedded map, and it works exactly the same in airplane mode. This is enforced, not just promised: an automated check bans every client networking API from the source and runs again against the built app. The one exception is opt-in and local: Premium includes a web server you start by hand, which serves your own records over HTTPS to a browser on the same network. What the app stores, on your device only: your entries, the files you attach, the people you name, transcripts, and your settings. Your passphrase is stretched with Argon2id to protect a random key that encrypts the database (SQLCipher) and every attached file (AES-256-GCM). Face ID or Touch ID unlocks through the Keychain. The vault is excluded from iCloud and from device backups, and the screen is covered in the app switcher. The app asks only for what a feature you started needs, and what it captures stays in the encrypted vault: microphone to record audio into an entry; camera and photos to attach a picture or a video; location for a one-shot coordinate saved with an entry, with no reverse geocoding and no map view; Face ID to unlock. Maps are a hand-off to your system map app, and the supporter tier’s “Request a feature” row hands a pre-filled message to your own mail app — the app itself sends nothing. Deleting an entry or a file removes it from your record; a permanent purge removes the bytes themselves. Deleting the app from your device removes everything it stored. There is no copy anywhere else for us to delete, because no copy was ever made. Exports and backups you create are files you control — where they go after you share them is up to you, which is why any export can be sealed with its own passphrase first.
